Talk About a Collapsed Market

YES, THIS IS A 13 STORY BUILDING LYING ON THE GROUND! Anybody who bought a condo here sure has a problem.

(1) An underground garage was being dug on the south side, to a depth of 4.6 meters.
(2) The excavated dirt was being piled up on the north side, to a height of 10 meters.
(3) The building experienced uneven lateral pressure from south and north.
(4) This resulted in a lateral pressure of 3,000 tons, which was greater than what the pilings could tolerate. Thus the building toppled over in the southerly direction.
First, the apartment building was constructed.

Then the plan called for an underground garage to be dug out.

The excavated soil was piled up on the other side of the building.

*Heavy rains resulted in water seeping into the ground.*

The building began to tilt & shift. The "hollow" concrete pilings were snapped due to the uneven lateral pressures.

And thus was born the eighth wonder of the world.

If the buildings were closer together it would have resulted in a domino effect.

They built 13 stories on grade, with no basement, and tied it all down to hollow pilings with no re-bar.

A re-bar (short for reinforcing bar), also known as reinforcing steel, reinforcement steel, re-rod, a deformed bar, reo, or reo bar, is a common steel bar, and is commonly used as a tensioning device in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structures holding the concrete in compression. It is usually in the form of carbon steel bars or wires, and the surfaces may be deformed for a better bond with the concrete.
While the Chinese construction company may have overlooked a few things, rest assured you are in great hands with Atlantic Southern Construction. We go over plans meticulous and pay great attention to detail... Not to mention we are especially fond of re-bar to avoid falls likes these!

University Hospital

Atlantic Southern Paving and Sealcoating is happy to boast about their latest project! We worked for University Hospital in Tamarac, Florida on a very time sensitive project, the re-vamping of their property. Not only was it important for the hospital to have minimal disruption, they wanted their property brought up to code.

While working in timely manner, we were able to help them accomplish all their goals! We kept the hospital functioning while working diligently. In addition to creating new concrete car stalls and sidewalks, the entire property is now up to compliance with the National ADA (Americans Disability Act) of having a 2% slope! Below are a few pictures of the guys on the job and the finished product! Introducing Line Striping and Signage Crew For All Your Paving Needs

The importance of professionally applied pavement markings is often overlooked in the paving industry. However, Atlantic Southern Paving understands that no matter how good the new paving looks on the job, if the striping is not bright, sharp, and clean, the overall impression of the job will suffer. We use top quality materials and skilled crews to ensure that the finished product is a job that we can be proud of. In addition to applying pavement markings, we also offer curb painting, car stop and signage services to meet all city and county requirements.

Helping Hands

At Atlantic Southern Paving we take pride not only in our work for our clients, but also in our work for others. Most recently, we went with The Home Depot to help them on their Habitat for Humanity Project. They were partnered with Sea Island Habitat for Humanity (SIHFH) for their 2012 Community Building Invitational, which took place in the beautiful Johns Island, South Carolina. Sea Island Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1978 and built only one house in its first year. It took $2,500 just to do that! By 2010, they built 275 in Johns Island and the surrounding areas.

For many of these folks, this is their first time owning a house, but it doesn't come cheap. They are required to make a down-payment, contribute 500 hours of "sweat equity" and pay for thier brand new home through a 30 year, 0 interest mortgage. Atlantic Southern Paving was more than willing to help these folks and had a great time doing it!
